We had a wonderful 3 night stay at Salt Winds. The house is fantastic with stunning views and had everything we needed (and more). The weather wasn’t great but it didn’t matter. Coming back to such a gorgeous house more than made up for the rain. Having a tumble drier was also very handy! We’d definitely recommend - and would be more than happy to live there permanently.

Spent the most amazing 4 days in this beautiful house; the views are truly breathtaking from every room and the layout, design and finishing touches of the house are first class. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Salt Winds or come back for another stay. We were extremely lucky with the weather and made the most of sitting out on the deck watching the sunset and just taking in the spectacular views. Explored the island a little; lovely little cafes and shops in Dunvegan and Portree and for those who like a good walk the Fairy Pools and Coral Beach are worth seeing. Didn’t manage dinner at the Stein Inn as it was fully booked so make sure to book in advance. Would recommend Edinbane Inn for fish and chips, quick service and the staff are lovely and the little grocery store in Dunvegan is handy for essentials. Salt Winds,,,,,,,,,paradise!

I am not sure where to start, we were completely blown away by Salt Winds, the pre arrival information was spot on, directions easy to follow and property easy to find. The property is just a beautiful fusion of fabrics and well considered furnishings and design, it instantly made you feel welcome, warm and at home, but equality didn't feel like a house that belong to anyone else. It was clean, uncluttered but perfectly cosy. There was everything you would possibly wish for, blankets for cold nights on the terrace, candles for dinner, welcome pack for arrival, maps of skye, easy to find and follow instructions for any appliances you may not have been familiar with. We looked forwards to coming back to the house at the end of each day to relax and just watch the sun go down. We fell in love with this place and the stay in Skye will hold a very special place in all of our hearts, we will be back without doubt, thank you very much to Tom for being such a fabulous host.

2nd visit

Once again Saltwinds has performed and delivered... From the luxurious living room and well equipped kitchen and bathrooms to THAT view. We've come away after 3 days of the most amazing weather and have fallen in love with this house and Skye even more.. None of the family wanted to leave.. Lots to see and do nearby. Had lunch at the Loch bay restaurant.. Simply delicious.. We'll be back, if you'll have us again Saltwinds.. Until next time xx

Perfect place to switch off

Spacious, comfortable home with everything you could need for an escape. Views are stunning and can be seen from every room. Lovely and warm so we only used the wood burning stove once. Friendly neighbours and a short walk to the Stein Inn, Lochbay or Yurt tea.

Have been coming to Skye for many years and stayed in most of the hotels, however this time we thought we would rent a house as we were coming for a week to spent Christmas. After staying here I could never go anywhere else, the house is beautiful and pure perfection. The views are totally breathtaking and some of the best I have seen, very peaceful. There was a flurry of snow and it felt so magical, made our Christmas very special. The house felt more like a home rather than a holiday rental and had everything you need and finished to a very high standard. We cannot wait to go back and this time I will book 2 weeks, we did not want to leave.

Awesome house with epic views!

We had a perfect stay at Salt Winds! The house is situated on top of the hill, with epic views over Loch Bay. These views can be enjoyed in the house as well cause of all the big windows. The way it is located it gives good privacy, while you can enjoy the sunsets or changes in weather coming from the Atlantic Ocean. Salt Winds has everything you need and more than that! Relax at the fireplace, or take a nice bath in the ensuite bathroom. As said we very much enjoyed it, our 6 year old daughter as well! Highly recommended!!

The most beautiful views and house, you won't want to leave

From the day we arrived we knew this was the best accommodation we could have booked, the house is perfect in every way and the views are breathtaking. The master bedroom with the large window looking out to the Loch is amazing. The decor in the house is really quirky which we loved, nice personal touches The Stein inn is a 5 minute walk and we loved it, we had lunch and it was really nice and wholesome. Kirsty the bar lady and Frank the chef were so welcoming and great to chat to, they made us feel so at home :) We had our furry baby Brinley with us and he also loved the house and the Stein Inn and was made very welcome. We fell in love with Coral Beach and the Fairy pools, well worth a visit but you may have to carry your dogs over some stone paths through water at the fairy pools. The Uig Hotel is dog friendly and lovely welcoming owners, the burger was amazing and Brinley was given some treats :) We were blown away by Skye, Waternish and the Salt winds accommodation, we will definitely be back. Eve, Ky and Brin xxx

You'd be a fool to pass this place up!

If you're heading to the Isle of Skye for a long weekend or more, and like places that are low-key, off the beaten track, and inviting in all aspects, I'd hands down recommend staying here. The owners of this majestical piece of architecture have managed to compose an adorning timbre that they can call their own; with a surplus being, that it's open to guests. The house proposes to the modern drift following a trend that coincides with alluring comfort and sustainable materials that descend into their own ethos, leading to prevailing design. The ceiling to floor windows focus on accentuating light, allowing you to see a view that has its own whimsical personality. You'll see a sunset like you've never seen before. The leather L shaped sofa is ideal for snuggling up on, with a glass of red wine and a film to watch from their vast collection, that is pleasing to all tastes. There's delicacy and candour in every form throughout the house that is encompassed by the hospitable aurora that you'll feel here. A room should never allow the eye to settle in one place, and at this house the cosy animal skins, rustic furniture, magnificent telescopes, cork ceiling lampshades don't let it but they all eloquently combine the compelling design licks that we all feel happy to be around. The lighting will make you weak at the knees from the tantalising caress of the dimmer switch option. In addition and in regards to that rendering ache that we all have for an unruffled sleep, the beds have linen sheets and a mattress topper from none other than Soak & Sleep, which will give you that undeniable reminder that you'll have a good night's sleep. Each bedroom, has a view of the water and an impeccable yet simple en suite. Staying here will give you more of a grasp as to why people that live in the Isle of Skye say; 'We just fell in love with this place, and never left.'
