Salt Winds strongly supports the Scottish Government's guidance, advice and actions which are being taken to protect the health and well-being of our community from the Global COVID-19 Pandemic. We recognise the unique dangers to health and wellbeing of our customers and our team members. From 23rd March 2020 until today we are closed, in lockdown and have not received any guests at all during this period. This new policy below will be implemented for guests once the Scottish Government has lifted restrictions on travel and permitted businesses such as ours to open again.
Although cleaning is always one of the highest priorities for us at Salt Winds, which you can verify reading our many testimonials, we thought our guests would like extra reassurance of the importance we have placed on reassessing procedures and processes to make sure our properties are protected and 100% virus-free during the outbreak of the novel coronavirus.
But how do we make sure our properties are protected?
It is obviously extremely important to clean our property thoroughly between each guest turnover. One of the most effective ways to avoid spreading the virus is to consistently have an ultra-clean environment.
We’ve also created a precaution checklist for our guests that you can review in our booking communications and you will find in our property.
Before we start cleaning, we ensure the protection of our cleaners by using disposable gloves, which are discarded after each cleaning. Hands are cleaned immediately after gloves are removed.
Specifically we use strong bleach and alcohol based products on hard surfaces and laundry detergent that destroys the virus.
If any of the surfaces around our property are visually dirty, we ensure to clean them with detergent or soap and water before moving on to the next step: disinfection.
Killing the virus germs with disinfection after cleaning is the most effective way to lower the risk of infection. This means, disinfecting the entire house, including anything previous guests may have touched, such as the TV remote, doorknobs, window handles, taps, stair railings, light switches, kitchen appliances, etc.
We can use diluted household bleach solutions, alcohol solutions with at least 70% alcohol and most common household disinfectants, and ensure to scrub all surfaces, including any tables, chairs and kitchen counters.
We protect your bedding with mattress protectors and pillow protectors, and always wash these and any bed linens and towels on high temperature.
We ensure that we provide them with the appropriate products to sanitize and disinfect our property. As mentioned above, they should be using disposable gloves.
We also empty vacuum cleaners between appointments, training cleaners in how they wash and sanitize their hands and ensuring they follow all of the safety and prevention measures.
You can see we are taking this virus very seriously by taking actions personally to avoid our property being contaminated. Here are some safety tips on how to protect others from any contagion you may be carrying yourself.
First of all we personally ask you respectfully that you do not travel if you are presenting symptoms or have come into contact with anyone presenting COVID-19 symptoms (dry cough, fever, shortness of breath, diarrhea, brainfog, lack of taste & smell). Whilst Skye has excellent healthcare, it does not have the capacity to cope with an outbreak, so please be kind & conscious towards our fellow islanders.
